The problem
Small business owners need a website in an afternoon, not a discovery phase. Existing builders are powerful in a way that reads as complexity, and they price small shops out. Most abandoned before publishing.
What we built
We built an editor that hides the machinery: one column of decisions, templates that are genuinely designed rather than recoloured, and no upsell wall before a site is live. Templates ship as structured data, so a design change is a content change. Publishing produces static output with an edge cache, which keeps hosting cheap enough to give away.
What we learned
Both products shipped with a smaller feature set than originally scoped, which is the point. We cut scope until the team could ship it properly, then spent the next year on the reliability and the edges that users actually hit. That trade is the same one we push every client toward.
The engineering teams that built Brtat still maintain it. We do not hand products over to a support tier after launch, because the people who understand a decision are the people who made it.
