About us
We build a reliable software with top engineering standards, and we do it from Ethiopia.
Kiremt was founded by Michael Sahlu, who has more than a decade of experience in software engineering, served as a CTO(also co-founder) at Minab IT Solutions. Initially it was a simple bet: that the engineering depth in Ethiopia could be matched with delivery standards anywhere in the world. What starts as a single project, can grow into a long term partnership. We work with startups, enterprises, NGOs and public sector organisations, and we ship software that is reliable, maintainable and secure.
Company overview
Kiremt Solutions PLC is an engineering company in Bole Sub City, Addis Ababa. We design, build and operate software for startups, enterprises, NGOs and public sector organisations mostly as a long-term partner rather than a project body.
Our delivery model is deliberately simple. Small cross-functional pods: a product owner, engineers, a designer, and QA. Everyone on a pod ships to production. No handoffs between a design team and an implementation team, because the people who draw the interface are the people who write it.
We work in English as the working language of delivery, and our teams are comfortable in Amharic and other Ethiopian languages when a client or user needs it. That matters for research and for product decisions: an interface you never had to translate is usually a better interface.

Ownership, plainly
Clients own the source code from the first commit. There is no code escrow conversation, because there is nothing to release.
Our story
How Kiremt got here
2026
Founded in Addis Ababa
Two engineers and a designer, working out of a single room office in Bole on client projects.
2026
Brtat site builder
Thousands of structured templates shipped. Small businesses could publish a real site in an afternoon.
2026
Applied AI practice
Retrieval, evaluation and automation work, shipped to clients with cost reporting attached.
2026
10+ systems in production
Web platforms, mobile apps and internal tools used every day by real teams.
Next
Still engineering
We measure ourselves on how many clients are still here in five years.
How we work
Six commitments we can be held to
Not values on a wall. Each of these is something we would rather lose a project over than break.
You own everything
Source code, infrastructure definitions and documentation, from the first commit. Not on final payment.
Ships on the calendar
Working software every sprint. If we will miss a date, you hear it from us before the date, not after.
Boring by default
We pick technology we can support at 3 a.m. and defend in a review, rather than what is newest.
The senior team is the team
The people you meet in the proposal are the people who write the code. We do not sell a bench we do not have.
Written decisions
Anything affecting more than one squad is decided in a document with the alternatives recorded.
No black boxes
Dashboards, alerts and incident reports. If something breaks, you get told before you notice.
The wider team
Nine disciplines, one standard
We staff by discipline and work in pods. Here is what each discipline brings to a project.
Software engineers
Go, Python and TypeScript across backend and platform.
Full stack developers
Own a feature from schema to interface.
Frontend developers
React, Vue and Nuxt, obsessed with Core Web Vitals.
Backend developers
Go services, Postgres schemas, reliable queues.
UI/UX designers
Research, interface design and design systems.
Data scientists
Analytics engineering, forecasting, applied ML.
QA engineers
Test automation and release quality gates.
Project managers
Delivery, scope and the awkward budget conversation.
Business analysts
Requirements, process maps and acceptance criteria.
Where we are
Two cities, one delivery practice
Addis Ababa
HQHeadquarters
Bole Sub City, Woreda 03. Engineering, design, data and the delivery office. Ethiopia's largest talent pool, twelve minutes from the airport.
Bahir Dar
Remote team
Amhara region organisations and to the Lake Tana corridor. Two hours from the capital by flight or a full day by road.
Let's build together
Tell us what you are building. We will tell you honestly whether we are the right team for it.
Send a paragraph about the problem. You will get a reply from an engineer, not a form letter, within one business day. If we are not the right fit, we will usually know someone who is.
What happens next
- 1 We reply with initial questions, a rough range and whether we are the right fit.
- 2 A call or a workshop with the engineers who would actually do the work.
- 3 A paid discovery phase produces a written scope and a number we can stand behind.
